Protests in the North over assassination attempt on Justice Ilancheliyan
Protests are being undertaken all over the North today condemning the attempted assassination on the High Court Judge Manickavasagar Ilancheliyan.
The Private Bus Owners Association said yesterday that they taking their buses off the roads today in protest of the Assassination attempt on the Jaffna High court Judge.
Northern Lawyers Association also announced that they will not attend cases today. Attention drawing protests will be held in Government Offices, Divisional Offices and the District Secretariats.
Homage paying events have been organized to be held at the Jaffna University and at the spot in Nallur where the Body guard of the Judge, Late SI, Hemachchandra was shot and later succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, large number of grateful Tamil people sped to pay their respects to the SI, killed while safeguarding their popular justice, when his remains were laid at the Police HQ, Jaffna for paying last respects.
Condemnation are being heaped from all around against the attempt, including those of Maithri, Ranil, CM, Wickneswaran and Mahanayake of Malwatte.
However the police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said that this is an accidental event and that the Judge is not the target.
