Providing employment opportunity to former militants, Governor promise to discuss with President, PM and CM

The Governor, Northern Province, Reginold Cooray has promised to take up the matter of providing employment opportunities to Rehabilitated former militants with the President and the Prime Minister.

The Thai Pongal celebration of the Civil Defence Department was held in the Vaddakachchi Vayal Pannai, on Tuesday, and speaking there the Governor had said so.

He further said that the youth are encountered with employment after the end of the war. The youth had been active with the LTTE are now found without any employment now.

A plan should be devised to solve this problem of the former militants. I will have discussion directly with the President and the CM regarding this matter. Accordingly, action will be taklen to provide them with emplomment and to enhance their livelihood, he said.

Earlier the former militants had handed over him a memorandum during this event, saying that employment opportunities are provided for the former militants in Kilinochchi, who had undergone rehabilitation.

It is notable that in this event presided by the Commanding officer of the Kilinochchi, Mulaitheevu Civil Defence Department, the former militants held a meeting with the Governor.
