The relatives of the Tamil Political Prisoners (TPPs) have put out a request that all people should join in the raising of their voices for release of their children.
8 TPPs have gone into fasting protest for the last 6 days, demanding they be released after short term rehabilitation.
8 TPPs, Mathyarasan Sulaxan, Rasathuri Thiuruvarul,Sivasubramanium Thillai raj, Rasapallavan Thaboruban, Rasathurai Jegan, Sooriyakanthy Jegan, all of Jaffna, Sivapragasam Sivaseelan of Kilinochchi and Thangavel Nimalan, who had been arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and remanded for the last 9 years had commenced a fasting protest six days ago.
Their relatives said as above in a press conference they held at the Jaffna Press club, insisting the release of their children.
MP, T.Siththarthan who paid a visit to the TPPs on fast, had assured them that they will continue to insist the government for their release.
It is notable that the prime Minister had said that the issue of the TPPs could solved after consultation with the Attorney General.
