Re commissioning of Paranthan Chemicals and Kurinchtheevu Saltern agreed at policy level – Sritharan
MP, Sivagnanam Sritharan has said that it had been agreed at policy level to re-commission the Paranthan Chemical Factory and Kurinchatheevu saltern which are currently found in a state of disuse in the Kandawalai area of Kilinochchi District and to establish an Industrial Estate in extent of 350 acres.
The Paranthan Chemical Factory and Kurinchatheevu Saltern are now in a state of disuse. Because of this hundreds of people who could be employed in them are suffering at present without employment.
Commenting on the above matters, day before yesterday, MP, Sritharan said that these matters were discussed at the President’s Task Force on 17th. It had been agreed at policy level to re-commission the Paranthan Chemicals Factory and Kurinchchatheevu Saltern and to establish a 350-acre Industrial Estate in Paranthan area encompassing all four districts.
If the projects for these are commenced, more than 1,000 people could be provided with employment, he said.
Further he said that they have promised to give a decision on Vaddkkachchi Agricultural Farm before the end of December. This also will provide employment to hundreds.
