A depression has been prevailing from yesterday evening in seas off Southern Anthamaan around 1,300 Kilometers from Sri Lanka. It is anticipated that this depression will move through Bay of Bengal to Southern Aanthra area in India within the next three days.
Strong winds blowing at speeds of 50 – 60 Kmph will prevail in Sri Lanka, particularly in North and East. The wind speeds in the sea areas will between 60 – 70 Kmph. It is not safe for the fishermen to go sea, said the Director of the Met. Department, S.Premlal.
The low depression in Anthamaan Islands is getting stronger and stronger. Within the next three days, it move in a North Eastern direction to the shores of Southern Aanthra and Tamil Nadu. Strong winds may blow in the shores of India and Sri Lanka. Wind speeds will tend to increase in the shore areas of Jaffna Peninsula. The public should act with caution, he said.
