Hearts melted in sorrow in seeing the relatives erecting posts with the photographs of the relatives they handed over alive to the Army at the end of the war in 2009, at the same spot in Vadduvagal. At the same spot, more than 200 porazhis surrendered to the army with Rev.Fr.Michel Joseph, it is reported.
The struggle undertaken by the relatives of persons made to disappear demanding information on their relatives, reached its 761st day yesterday.
A protest was undertaken from Mulaitheevu town demanding truth be revealed about their relatives and condemning the times granted to Sri Lanka in Geneva, proceeded up to the Muliwaikkal side end of the Vadduvagal Bridge.
Large number of relatives took part in the rally. On reaching the bridge they erected posts with the photographs of their relatives at the spot where they handed over their relatives ALIVE to the Army.
That was the spot from where they had handed over their relatives to the Army. Some who did not surrender were identified by cut throats operating with the Army and arrested. It is in this open place that the posts with photographs of missing were erected. The sight made eyes to moisten and several wept openly.
