The relatives of Missing persons held protest rallies all over North and East yesterday, the ” Day of the persons made to disappear.” demanding to find their missing relatives and International Investigation for War-Crimes perpetrated by Sri Lanka.
A protest march commenced at around 10.00 a.m. in front of Jaffna District and proceeded towards UN office in Nallur and handed over a memorandum for UN Secretary General Pan-kee-Moon, UNHR Commissioner Seyd Al Hussein, SL Human Rights Commission and UN Task Force for persons made to disappear.
“Hundreds of Thousands of people had gone missing in North and East during the war. The present Government is not prepared to reveal any information on them. On the contrary, they are establishing pseudo- Offices and pseudo-Commissions to hood wink the International Community. The present government is trying to escape accountability by hood winking the International Community. That is the reason behind our protest calling for justice is made to be delivered by the GOSL and insisting International Investigation.”, said Organizer of the Demonstration, Mrs. Subajini Kiso Anton.
Similar protest were held in all districts of Northern Province, Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts.
