The relatives of Missing persons request N & E MPs to vote against Draft law on the Missing persons

The members of the Northern and Eastern Districts should get together and vote against the draft law on Missing Persons, the relatives of the Missing persons had requested. They have sent individual letters to the said Members.

The debate on this act has commenced in the Parliament. While saying that they oppose the act, the relatives have said “we are undertaking the struggle demanding tracing of their missing relatives for more than 100 days, we met the President and have submitted 5 demands but the government had not responded in anyway. Therefore our MPs should exert pressure on the President in the accomplishment”.

The relatives were not consulted on the Act. This Act has no power to punish perpetrators. Neither the International Investigation proposed by us  nor a hybrid Investigation Mechanism was incorporated in this Act. Hence as per our request, all our MPs should vote against this Act, they have said.
