Relatives of Persons made to Disappear demonstrate in Mannar, for several demands

The relatives of the Persons made to disappear held a protest demonstration in Mannar yesterday putting forward various demands and had handed over a memorandum to be handed over to the UN.

The procession started at the State bus stand under the aegis of the Mannar Society  Relatives of the Persons made to disappear and was led by the Chair person on the Society, Manuel Uthayachandra at around 10 a.m. and proceeded up to Mannar Mass Grave site.

The relatives of the Persons made to disappear, Human Rights activist, Rev. Fr. Jeyabalan Croos, the President of the Federation of Public Organizations, V.S.Sivaharan, Rev. Fathers, Rev. Sisters, Human Rights activists, Representatives of Nation Fishermen Cooperation Movement, members of the LG Bodies, and Rev. Brothers and several Human Rights activists from the south participated in the rally.

Reaching the mass Grave site the protesters raised several slogans and then proceeded through Mannar Police Station Road to reach the Mannar District Secretariat. After demonstrating for some time the memorandum was read by Chair person of Mannar Society Relatives of the Persons made to disappear and handed over to the Human Rights activist, Rev. Fr. Jeyabalan Croos to be sent to the UN.
