Release of TPPs, Former Minister of Justice did not show any concern, Accuses Sampanthan

The Former Minister of Justice has not shown any concern over the release of TPPs. The problems are dragging on because of that. The current Minister of Justice Mrs.Thalatha Atukorale should pay attention on this matter, said Era Sampanthan, the Leader of the Opposition demanded yesterday.

He demanded like this while taking part in the debates on allocations to Ministry of Justice in the Parliament. In a context where several people were arrested under the PTA and are in prisons, several struggles had been undertaken for the release of the TPPs, no action has been taken regarding this problem, he pointed out.

Although Sri Lanka had promised to repeal PTA to International community, that action is being delayed. He also requested the Minister of Justice to act without delay with regard to TPPs, by organizing a discussion with, the relevant factions including President, Prime Minister, Minister of Law and Order, Minister of Prison Reforms and the Attorney General.
