The TPPs detained at Anuradhapura Prison for long time now, without no action, had requested that the beyond Political leaders, religious leaders should take active interest in either releasing them under general amnesty or bring them under court procedures.
11 Ttamil Political Prisoners (TPPs) who are in Anuradhapura prison for long time without any legal action were met by representatives of Mannar Citizen’s Committee, led by their President Rev.Fr. Gnanapragasam, and Attorney at Law A. W. Arjun on last Wednesday.
Commenting on their position to the visitors, the TPPs said that although political representatives and Non-Governmental representatives had undertaken activities, no favourable activities had occurred.
If the Religious Leaders will undertake activities calling for our release it may bear fruit. Not only we are suffering but also our families are suffering many distresses.
The religious leaders should take action so that we also be released like many people released under General Amnesty by the President.
Hence the Religious Leaders should take active interest in our affair, the TPPs had requested.
