The Department had acquired these lands through the Special Govt. Gazette No:1995-13  dated 2015.03.01, without obtaining permission from or without consulting the Point Pedro Pradeshiya Sabah.

This Nagarkovil Forest Reservation consists of lands and houses of the people, three Grama Niladhari Divisions, temples, lakes and fresh water fishing areas. Further these are the society lands of the people of the area.

The lands which had been declared forest reserves, without proper research or evaluation, will have a detrimental impact on the livelihoods and life styles of the area people.
