A resolution has been adopted in the Northern Provincial Council calling the CM to take action in his capacity as Minister of Local Government, Law and Order, to stop construction of the relic tower in the Navatkuli Vihare premises.
The monthly sitting of the NPC was held yesterday presided by Leader of the House C.V.K. Sivagnanam.
This resolution was tabled as an attention drawing resolution by Opposition Leader, S.Thavarasa and adopted yesterday.
Member Dharmapala Seneviratne speaking there said that most of the Hindu temple south were built by Sinhalese and regarding to the Navatkuli Vihare, he said to take action in accordance with the law.
Rejecting his theory about temples, member Sarweswaran said that the temples were built by the Tamils in respective places.
Thereafter, the Leader of the house got into an argument with Sarweswaran in support of Seneviratne and there prevailed some commotion in the house for some time.
The CM speaking there said he will pay attention on this Vihare along with Vihares un-authourizedly built in Kokkilai and Mulaitheevu.
