Europe’s six Ryder Cup rookies have the character to handle a hostile American crowd next month in Hazeltine, Minnesota, says Lee Westwood.
The Englishman is one of Europe captain Darren Clarke’s three wildcard picks.
Westwood will be competing in his 10th Ryder Cup while Danny Willett, Chris Wood, Rafael Cabrera-Bello, Andy Sullivan, Matt Fitzpatrick and Thomas Pieters will be playing in their first.
“I think they can take it,” Westwood said of the atmosphere in the USA. “There’s a lot of experience there. I look at a lot of the players’ characters and I think they can take a fight and a bit of stick.”So I’m still very positive. I think we’ve got some world-class players.”(BBC,2016)
