Sampanthan express willingness to work with Mahintha

“The other people in this country also are the citizens with rights to this country. If the ruling of this country is undertaken with a thought that this country belongs to all its citizens, the situation will be a different one.  I wish that the former President and I should come together to undertake this Task.” said the Leader of the Opposition and the Leader of TNA

A book titled “ Describing Tamil verbs” authored by Julampitiye Managala Thero, was released yesterday at the Cultural Square of the Western Province.

Leader Sampanthan said as above participating as the Chief Guest and delivering his Chief Guest address at the above event.

Speaking further he said, that this book act as a bridge of relationship between the Tamil and Sinhala people. After the independence Bhikkus went the schools in the North to teach Sinhala and the students learnt it eagerly. Following the change in the Language policy of the government based on political motives, the teaching of Sinhala was abandoned. If that was continued several crises that occurred in the country would not have occurred. Tamil letters are to be found in the remains of several Vihares in the North and East. That shows that some Tamils had followed Buddhism. We oppose secessionism. We all should get together and build up the country, he said.

Mahindha was also a guest at the event.
