Ten members of the United People’s Freedom Alliance ( UPFA) have joined in inviting the Tamil National Alliance to form the government in the East.
10 members of the UPFA who supported the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress to form the government have extended this invitation.
The UPFA members had met TNA leader Sampanthan in his home in Trincomalee today at about 3.30 p.m. had held a discussion with Sampanthan regarding this.
A group of UPFA members led by Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan,(Pillaiyan) the leader of the Tamil People Liberation Tigers had participated in this meeting.
Eastern Provincial Council Members, Uthumma Lebbei, Wimalaweera, Dissanayaka, Weerasekara, and Ameen had participated in the meeting, it is reported.
The TNA was invited to form the Government during this meeting, said a Eastern Provincial Council Member who participated in the meeting. This member also said that sampanthan had assured that action will be taken after consulting the TNA members of the EPC.
Meanwhile ten members of the UPFA which supported SLMC had announced that they have withdrawn the support to the SLMC.
