Security Forces agree to release acquired lands in 3 Districts: says Minister of State Radhakrishnan

The State Minister Education Velusamy Rathakrishnan  has said that the Security Forces have consented to release Lands of people acquired by the Security Forces in three particular districts of the Northern province within three months. The Security Forces have consented to re release lands in Vavuniya, Mannar and Mulaitheevu Districts. Alternate arrangements will be made regarding Lands which could not be released, he said.

A discussion on releasing the Schools, Churches, Temples Mosques, Vihares and Health Centres in the lands acquired by Security Forces in Vavuniya, Mannar Mulaitheevu Districts was held yesterday at the Auditorium of the Vavuniya District Secretariat

Some important decisions were taken in this meetingincluding:

*Officials of the Education Ministry to submit a comprehensive report to Ministry of Education on the schools in possession or under control of the Army.

*Taking action to activate the necessary schools and providing buildings and furniture for them through Ministry of Education.

*Closing down schools that are not needed.

*Taking action to release Poonthottam Camp.

*Identifying suitable land for establishing the intended Teachers Training Institute and if such land is not available taking action to purchase a private land for this purpose.

At the same time, the security Forces announced that it had been decided to release very two Temples under the control of the Security Forces in Mulaitheevu area and hand over 131 acre to 81 owners.

It is a welcome act that the security Forces are acting with concern regarding the land release. It will be possible to get most of the lands by December , he said.
