People sentimentally paid homage and observed a day of mourning yesterday in Jaffna for the Victims of the Easter Sunday Bomb Blasts.
A day of mourning had been declared by the Government for more than several hundred people killed in the Easter Sunday Bomb Blasts at Churches and Hotels.
On this basis, worship was held at the St. Mary’s Cathedral, Jaffna at 8.15 a.m. yesterday. Along with the worship, devotees held lighted candles and observed two minutes silence and requiem worships were undertaken. There after candles placed in the cathedral and prayers for calm and peace were offered.
Bells were pealed at Catholic Churches at 8.45 a.m. in memory of the Victims. Bells of Hindu Temples also pealed for them and special poojas were offered. Mourning was also observed in Government Offices yesterday.
