“ The truths that were buried during the war period are still under the soil. The journalist shoud bring them out risking their lives ”, said the Bishop of Mannar, Rt.Rev. Joseph Rayappu, while he was addressing the event held to felicitate Journalists at the Colombo Tamil Sangam yesterday evening.
He further said that several thousands were killed during the last war. The government declared no-fire- zones, got the people there, bombed them with cluster bombs and then killed the innocent public. Apart from these, people who were handed over to the army were also made to disappear. Several others were dragged away in front of the public and were killed.
Along with these truths, several other war related truths remain buried. These truths should be brought out. Sri Lanka is a country with several races and cultures. thus, the Tamil people of this country should live with freedom prosperity and with all rights. For this all Tamils should come together, he said.
