The relatives of the forced to disappear persons held an attention drawing struggle in front of Muthur Divisional; Secretariat, Trincomalee yesterday.
As Police had severely warned them not to shout slogans and not to move here and there, the protesters covered their mouths with black cloths and undertook their protest silently.
Later, speaking to the media, Chairperson of the Society for finding missing persons, Selvarajah Sarojadevi said, we the relatives of Missing Persons of the 8 districts of North and East are struggling for several years now, and in the context of the Sri Lanka Government failing to deliver any solution we have approached the UN. Action should be taken to give pressure to the Government without wasting time. Our struggle will continue until then she said.
At the end of the struggle a memorandum for UN was handed over to the Divisional Secretary, Muthur.
Relatives of the missing persons in Kilinochchi also undertook a protest struggle saying no justice had been delivered to their relatives, at around 11.30 a.m. in front of their struggle base near the Kilinochchi.
