The Leader of Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and Minister , Rauf Hakeem said that, he has no need to speak about the North – East merger , just for political existence and he will not mortgage the rights of the Muslim people. He said this in an event held in Ninthavur, day before yesterday night.
It is propagated that a secret pact has been made regarding the merger of North and East. The former Secretary of SLMC who said earlier that all these things should be done is now distorting and saying these things. It is not fair to speak about something that has not occurred in the current context.
Wimal Weeravansa and Dinesh Gunawardene may speak about it for their political existence. The support base of some Muslim leaders are such a state that they also have to speak about it for their political existence.
The SLMC is not going to utter anything against TNA publicly, relevant N-E Merger. If something will occur like this my party will speak about it. If that does not happen I have no need to bury the political aspirations of the Tamils.
Nothing will happen without constituting a separate Province for Muslims. I am not going to mortgage the rights of the Muslim People, he said.
