Shirani resigned after staying in the post for one day

Sri Lanka’s reinstated Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake resigned from the post today after staying just one day as the Chief Justice.

43rd Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake addressing the ceremonial farewell said that today is a momentous day which stands as a day in which time and nature brought about justice. She congratulated justice Sripavan who is to be appointed as the 44th Chief Justice.

 President Maithripaala Srisena had yesterday reinstated the country’s former chief justice after she was controversially impeached by the previous government.
