Sinhala Buddhist Nationalism is the common enemy of Tamil – Muslim faction, Says Gajendrakumar

The Leader of the TNPF, Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam has said that the Sinhala Buddhist Nationalism is the common enemy of the Tamil – Muslims. By self criticizing, the Tamil people and Muslims people could transform into a strong force he has further said.

Expressing his opinion in a media meeting held at the Jaffna Media Club yesterday on the contemporary political situation, he said as above.

After the end of the war in 2009, the Muslim people advanced very much economically and we pointed out that they will be targeted soon. The recent incidents have proved that we were correct.

Although, there are anger and splits between Tamil and Muslim people, a need has now risen for Tamil and Muslim people to get together in the Northern and Eastern Provinces. We should not make room to “Divide and rule”  tactics.

Tamil people were mostly affected in the Easter Sunday Bombings, but they have not shown any hatred towards Muslim people. The same Sinhala Buddhist Nationalism, to which Muslim  leaders betrayed the struggle for the rights of Tamil people is now jumping onto Muslims.

In this context a change should occur in the attitude of Muslim leaders. It is idiotic for Tamil and Muslim people fighting among them. The growing Sinhala Buddhist Nationalism will gobble the Tamil and Muslim Nations, he said.
