Skeleton after skeleton….30 skeletons recovered so far in excavation at Mannar Sathosa premises

Skeleton after skeleton is surfacing in the excavations at Mannar Sathosa premises. 30 skeletons and bone remains have been recovered so far there, it is reported.

The excavations which were suspended on Friday were resumed yesterday. Groups led by Special Judicial Medical Expert, W.R.S.A.Rajapakse and Kelaniya University Professor, Raj Somadeva are engaged in the excavations. Media men were allowed into excavation site yesterday evening. W.R.S.A.Rajapakse and Prof. Somadeva spoke to the media men.

Excavations are being carried out very minutely, and according to Legal procedures. The excavations are being carried out for 20th day today. Full skeletons and bone fractions have been recovered said, Rajapakse.

The exited buildings of the Mannar Sathosa were dismantled for building new buildings. Subsequently excavations were done and the excavated soil sold to the public. Following bone fractions being found in the sold soil, police and the court were informed and the construction works were suspended and search for human remains commenced. 30 skeletons and bone fractions have been recovered in the subsequent  excavations.
