Skeletons continued to be discovered in Mannar. So far 44 complete skeletons recovered

44 Human Skeletons and other parts of human bodies had been discovered so far from the excavated site at the premises of Mannar Sathosa, where a mass grave had been detected.

When a load of soil excavated  at the Mannnar Sathosa, in March  this year, some bone fractions were discovered in the soil.

Mannar Police informed the Mannar Court, and under orders of the Court excavations were undertaken and in the 37 days of excavation 44 complete human skeletons and several other body parts were discovered.

Prof. Raj Somadeva, who is engaged in the excavations said that around 45% of estimated excavations have been completed. He also said children’s skeletons also have been found among the discovered skeletons. The excavation will continue he said.

It is notable that skeletons have been found in routine excavations at Chemany, Nayanmarkaddu and within Jaffna Fort.
