An image taken by the Hubble Space Telescope showing the monster galaxy M60 (centre). The ultra-compact dwarf galaxy M60-UCD1 is highlighted at the bottom right and also enlarged as an inset. A new study has found that despite its small size, M60-UCD1 has a super-massive black hole at its centre. It may have once been a much larger galaxy that had its outer layers stripped away by M60’s gravity. Another galaxy, NGC464, is top right.
