Special Panel needed to inquire into corruptions & misuses at the Jaffna University

The tutorial staff of the Science Faculty and the Employees Union of the Jaffna University have jointly called for the appointment of a special panel consisting of only external members of the Senate to inquire into and take corrective measures regarding, deteriorations in learning and administrative sectors of the University, during an attention drawing demonstration held by them, yesterday morning.

Commenting on the demand the demonstrators said the UGC had appointed a competent senate for the University and demand necessitated by the political interference and the connivance in it by the Vice-Chancellor, some Deans and some Administrative Officers. Science Faculty staff had submitted complaints about improper appointments and the Employees have submitted complaints about improper appointments misappropriation of University funds. The time has riped for the Senate which took over 2 months back and the panel should consist only of external members, they said.
