The District Secretary, Jaffna, said yesterday that, a special Task group had been set up collect the statistics of Lands of people within the High Security Zone, the number of IDPs in transit camps and their lands. All the data collected by this group will be submitted to the President Maithripala Sirisena within one week and action will be taken for resettlement, he also said.
A conference on the resettlement in Jaffna was held at the District Secretariat, Jaffna yesterday morning with, The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, P.M.U.D. Basnayake , Commanders of Army, Navy and Air Force, the Commanding Officers of Army, Navy and Air Force, in Jaffna, and Divisional Secretaries participating in it.
He also said that the detail of the lands in control of the Army in each Divisional Secretary’s areas were handed over to the Defence Secretary and the Tri-Forces Commanders. We also gave the statistics of people in transit camps without being resettled. Special committees had been formed in each DS division to accurately update the existing statistics and the army will join these Committees. The final statistics will be submitted in a week through the Defence Secretary to the President.
