Spiritual uprising all around Home Land in Paying Homage to Maveerars overtly

Maveerars were remembered with lighting of Flames of Sacrifice and singing the song of Motherland and floral tributes , at 6.05 p.m.,  yesterday, Nov.27th , the holiest day in the hearts of people of the homelands. Also the Police said action will be taken if Maveerar Day is commemorated in places, people were not deterred by the warning and turned up in their numbers to commemorate the undying memories of their sons, daughters and kins who had sacrificed their precious lives for people.

Following is a roundup of events reported so far:

University of Jaffna – Students and Teacher got together under direct threat of photographing intelligence men, to commemorate Maveerars with tolling Temple bells, song of Motherland , floral tributes and Flames of Sacrifice.

Mullaitheevu:  MP for Mullaitheevu District, Shanthy Sriskantharasa NPC member T. Raviharan led the commemoration held at their respective residence with general public participating. Parents and relatives and traders lighted Flames of Sacrifice at their homes and business places. Intelligence monitoring was high with Traffic police keeping vigil near Mulliyawalai  Maveerar Cemetery.

Vavuniya:  President of the Citizens’ group, K.Thevarajan led the event held at the Chinthamany Pillaiyar Kovil , with Tolling bells, Lighting Flames of Sacrifice and Motherland Anthem and Floral tributes. Another event was held at Vairavapuliyankulam.

Kilinochchi: The TNA  supporters held a memorial event at a specially organised venue . Flames were lighted at the Kilinochchi Kanthaswamy Kovil, led by NPC member Pasupathypillai. The presence of army and intelligence was heavy yesterday with Army stationed at Paranthan Junction.

Mannar: Maveerar commemoration event was held at the Our Lady of Refuge, Eluthoor , Mannar led by The Secretary of ITAK Youth Federation, V.S.Sivaharan with the Participation of The president of the Mannar Citizens’ Committee, Rev.Fr.E.Sebamalai and other Rev. Fathers, Minister Deneeswaran, Member Primus Siraiwa and many others.
