The National Fishermen Cooperation Movement has commenced the preparation drafting a Project for creating stable development in the livelihood of war affected women in the Northern Province with the cooperation of the Provincial Ministry of Women’s Affairs.
A preparatory meeting for drafting the above project was between the Minister of Women’s Affairs, Ananthy Saseetharan and the representatives of the National Fishermen Cooperation Movement, was held day before yesterday at her Office.
The National Fishermen Cooperation Movement had opted to prepare a long term basis sustainable project for improvement of the social, cultural, economical and political development of the women affected by war in the Northern Province and to identify the problems encountered by them and find solutions for them.
However the regimes and powers may change the draft project should be implemented, it was insisted in the meeting. The prime objective of the project is to identify the situation and problems of the war affected women and finding solution for them and implementing this project on a regular basis.
It had been decided in this meeting that, the project should be drafted with the cooperation of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, by the professional Experts, representatives of affected women and Civil Society Organizations.
The National Organizer for National Fishermen Cooperation Movement, Hemankumara, Coordinator for NE, Antony Jesuthasan, Coordinator for N, Inpanayagam, and representatives of Poonthalir Organization participated in this meeting.
