Stone pelting attack on Jaffna Naga Vihare

A stone pelting attack was made by unidentified persons on the Jaffna Nagavihare  located at Ariyakulam junction.

Some unidentified persons had undertaken a stone pelting attack on the Jaffna Nagavihare in early hours of yesterday. The Glass casing of the Buddha statue in front of the Vihare had been damaged and the statue also had sustained small damage.

Following the attack police and Army were massed at the vihare and inquiries were undertaken. Army security had been provided to the vihare.

Further inquiries were undertaken after obtaining the CCTV recordings and from the recordings it is clear that two persons who came on a motorcycle had made the attack.

Two persons were arrested on suspicion yesterday but were released after inquiries.
