People and their representatives insisted that the Army which is occupying the lands of the people should get out from them.
The Puthukudiyiruppu Area Coordinating Committee meeting was held yesterday. The discussions were mostly held about redeeming the lands of the people occupied by the Army in Mulaitheevu and Puthukudiyiruppu areas.
MPc Puvaneswaran proposed that details of lands of people occupied by the Army, and under their control be submitted officially to the Divisional Secretary. People and their representatives were of the opinion that no land should be given to the security Forces in Mulaitheevu and Puthukudiyiruppu areas. They were in that the Army should leave their lands. Firm decision will be taken on this matter in the next meeting, said MP and co-chair , S.Sivamohan.
Security Forces are stationed in lands at Venavil, Puthukudiyiruppu Ponnambalam Hospital land. Most of these lands belong to the people. Owners of these lands have undertaken several struggles in the past demanding the release of their lands.
Although time was given to the Army, they have not vacated these lands.
