Strong winds and Hail stone rain hit Vavuniya yesterday- 2 temples and over 30 houses damaged

Strong winds and hail stone rains which lashed Vavuniya have damaged more than 30 houses and two temples.

Hail stone rains accompanied by strong winds which lashed the Ganeshapuram area in Vavuniya, yesterday evening.  Roofs of more than 30 houses were blown off by the strong winds and eventually the rain waters pouring into the roofless houses have damaged the belongings of the inmates.

Further two temples had been partly damaged. The houses are also damaged by uprooted trees falling on them.

Around 30 families have been rendered into utter helplessness.
