Sufficient water could be supplied if shortages are intimated, says the Kilinochchi District Secretary

The District Secretary, Kilinochchi, Suntharam Arumainayagam said that, temporary solutions could be provided through Ministry of Disaster Management, for the shortage of drinking water that could occur in Kilinochchi district.

It is reported that severe shortage of drinking water is prevailing now in areas of Karaichchi, Kandawalai and Pooneryn of the Kilinochchi District, due to the severe drought that is scorching the district currently.

Commenting on this, the District Secretary, Suntharam Arumainayagam said that, there is no problem in solving the drinking water problem now. We could provide temporary solution using the Bowers and tractor mounted bowers available with us through the Ministry of Disaster Management.

If such problems are found, and if the Divisional Secretary is informed about the drinking water shortages in respective areas, there are facilities for obtaining sufficient water and supplying it.

He also said that these are temporary arrangements, but they could be used until permanent arrangements are in place.
