Sumanthiran Assassination plot-former militants revenged & bail application filed

A bail application has been filed in the High Courts in Jaffna yesterday, on behalf of the former militants saying that the Sumanthiran assassination plot is only a drama to revenge former militants.

5 former militants were arrested 4 months back on charges of plotting to assassinate TNA MP, M.A Sumanthiran, and detained in remand.

AAL Thillainathan Arjuna appeared before the court on behalf of the 5 former militants and filed an application for bail for the 5 former militants.

The AAL in his submission said that the prosecution had filed charges only on one count of planning to murder Sumanthiran, for which only the HC could grant bail. The suspects had pleaded not guilty for the charge. They say that the charges had been made revenge them. They had been charged for the only reason that they are former militants.

The court accepted the bail application and postponed the case to the 20th for prosecution to submit any objection.
