EPRLF Leader Suresh Premachandran has challenged the call alleged to have been made by Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian M.A.Sumanthiran here and abroad for the expulsion of Northern Province Chief Minister Wigneswaran.
Speaking to the media, he argued that Wigneswaran was nominated unanimously by the constituent parties in the Tamil National Alliance. A decision to expel him cannot be taken by a single party Illankai Tamil Arasu Katchi or a member without the concurrence of other constituent parties in the TNA, namely EPRLF, TELO and PLOTE.
He accused that Sumanthiran is trying to fool the Tamil people by convoluting the facts regarding the war crimes inquiry.
“Wigneswaran passed a resolution accusing successive Sri Lankan governments of committing ‘genocide’. But Sumanthiran said it wasn’t a genocide. Sumanthiran is also trying to make the people to believe that the Human Rights Council resolution cosponsored by the Sri Lankan government was an international inquiry. Sumanthiran who is working against the aspirations of the Tamil people should be removed from the party” he said.
