Tamil Research conference massacre memorial overgrown by shrubs, people express concern

The memorial erected in memory of 09 Tamils massacred during the Tamil Research Conference held in 1974, which is a historical monument that should be preserved, is found being overgrown by shrubs.

Although, Political Parties and Public Organizations which utilize the Tamil Research Conference massacre memorial for the commemoration of the Massacre and other event take no care in maintaining the memorial in a cleaned state.

The area in which the memorial is located comes under the purview of the Jaffna Municipal Council which is under the TNA had not taken any initiative to keep the memorial clean. The name board of the memorial also had rusted and deteriorated.

People request the relevant officials to pay attention on the maintenance of the memorial.
