More Tamils pass in Admin  Service competitive exam – Attempt to cancel the examination, says JVP in Parliament

The JVP MP, Bimal Rathnayake  said yesterday in Parliament that the Administrative Services competitive examination which was held one year ago has been informed being cancelled after interview letters had been sent, citing frauds had occurred in the examination.

Opinions are being put forward that the real reason is that more minority candidates have passed in it. This is detrimental to reconciliation, he said. He further said that if the examination is to be cancelled because of fraud, the officers responsible for the fraud should be cancelled before the exam is cancelled. Cancelling the examination after 1 year, raises much suspicion, he said.

The same situation prevailed, three years ago in the State Accountancy Services competitive examination.

Out of the 59 candidates very few Sinhalese have passed the examination.21 Northern candidates have passed the examination, it is learnt.

It is notable that, selection of more Tamil students to Engineering and Medical Faculties in the 70s led to the enactment of Standardization, which is one of the root causes of the ethnic problem and the 30 years long war.
