A resolution has been passed demanding to stop Sinhala Colonization in the North and a Task Force including Members of NPC and MPs to handle affairs relevant to Sinhala Colonization in Mulaitheevu and Vavuniya.
A discussion on the Sinhala Colonization in the Mulaitheevu District was held among the NPC members and MPs of Northern Province at the NPC Secretariat, yesterday at 4.15 p.m.
CM was present and had informed Leader of the house his inability to attend the meeting due to personal reasons.
MPs, Mawai Senathyrasa,T.Siththarthan, S.Sritharan, S.Sivmohan, Mrs. Shanthy Sriskantharasa, Ministers of the NPC and Members participated in the discussion.
A clarification was provided as to how the lands in Mulaitheevu and Vavuniya are being plundered through Mahaweli Authority, Forest Department and Archaeological Department. Ways and means of solving these problems were widely discussed.
A unanimous decision was taken that the Colonization undertaken in Mulaitheevu and Vavuniya should be stopped immediately. It was also decided that the copy of the resolution should be sent to the President, PM and the Chairman of the Mahaweli Authority.
The Task Force appointed will consist of Leader of the House, C.V.K.Sivagnanam, P.Sathiyalingam,G.T.Linganathan, T.Raviharan, K.Sivanesan,C.Thavarasa, K.Sayanthan and M.K.Sivajilingam and the TNA will nominate three or four MPs for the purpose.
