Thavarasa to lose his position as NPC Opposition Leader

Following changes in the political regime in the island and shift in political allegiance, EPDP Councilor Thavaarsa who holds the post of opposition leader of the Northern Provincial Council, is likely to lose his position, sources say.

All Ceylon People’s Congress has made a claim for the post of opposition leader in the Northern Provincial Council. Presently, among the opposition ranks, UPFA has two members, EPDP has two members and All Ceylon People’s Congress has three members.

In such a context, a member of the All Ceylon Makkal Congress led by Minister Rishad Baiudeen is tipped to be elected as Opposition Leader of the Northern Provincial Council.
