The P2P rally ended in Polikandy with the participation of tens of thousands of people

The five-day uprising against the government’s repression “From Pottuvil to Polikandy” has reached Polikandy with the participation of tens of thousands of people.

The protest which started on the 3rd of January in Pottuvil, Ampara district reached Polikandy in Jaffna district  this evening through Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Mannar and Kilinochchi  districts.

The meeting was held at Polikandy with the flame lit. A tree was also planted in the area to commemorate the rally.

The rally, which lasted for four days, was reminiscent of the “Pongu Thamil” uprising in the north-east 10 years ago.  For the past four days, people in the north-east, the homeland of the Tamil people, have been emotional.

The rally was also attended by Muslim and upcountry Tamil politicians. The fact that a large number of Muslims have joined the rally and called for a united efforts for the rights has created an opportunity for a turning point in the struggle for the rights of the Tamil and Muslim people.
