The TNA has consented for the Unitary state system says Chairman of the Constitutional Reform Committee, AAL, Lal Wijenayake

The Chairman of the Constitutional Reforms Committee, AAL, Lal Wijeyanayake has said that the TNA had consented to retain the Unitary state system in the New Constitution and give priority to Buddhist Religion. What else is needed to the factions that represent majority race than this, he has raised a question.

The best address in the Constitutional Reforms Committee was delivered by the TNA MP, M.A. Sumanthiran. The faction led by Sumanthiran has clearly stated at that time, “ We cannot let this dragging on. We pledge our complete support to prepare a constitution based on unitary state system.”

We are only worried about curtailing the efforts to prepare a Constitution, which has come so far.

However, it is notable that, both the TNA M.P, M.A.Sumanthiran and his leader, Era Sampanthan were repeatedly saying on stages up to the time of the LG elections that they have not consented for Unitary State but has only consented the use of “Aekeeya Rajya”

They reiterated on the LG Election platforms that Aekeeya Rajya does not mean Unitary state.
