TNA participated for renewing the relationship with Mahintha Rajapakse, accuses Suresh Premachandran

The TNA participated in the meeting called by Mahintha Rajapakse and held at ‘ Temple Trees’, said Suresh Premachandran, the Leader of EPRLF. In a context where they have met Mahintha and Gota with requests, which had been rejected by Rajapakses, the TNA participated in the recent meeting for the purpose of renewing their relationship with Mahintha, he had further said.

All opposition parties had requested that Parliament be reconvened, but the Rajapakses have repeated refused to do it. However the Prime Minister called for a meeting just to explain why the parliament could not be reconvened. News was published in papers that during the meeting at Mahintha’s residence, the TNA had talked about the problems of the Tamil People. From the day Gota took over as the president TNA was requesting for a meeting with them, but, they had refused a meeting and their stance was that a meeting could be arranged after dissolution of the Parliament.

When Mahintha called for the meeting the TNA had participated in it. What have they achieved through this? They have talked only matter that become closed or abandoned with the closure of the Parliament. Talks regarding any change could be undertaken only after the election. It is a question whether any demand by TNA could be implemented in the present context, but, the TNA had hastily gone to the meeting just to renew the relationship with Mahintha, in case he becomes the Prime Minister again, he had said.
