It was learnt reliably from TNA Circles, TNA will side with Ranil in solving the current political crisis. This is the stance of the majority of TNA Mps, the same sources said.
A source not willing identify itself said after the Meeting of the TNA MPs, held at the Parliament complex yesterday said that, majority of the MPs wanted to support Ranil.
Meanwhile, some TNA MPs had strongly insisted that the TNA should keep neutral.
This source also said that, none of the MPs had insisted on supporting Mahindha. Although the situation at meeting was in favour of Ranil, No firm decision had been taken so far to support Ranil. It has been decided meet again before the convening of the Parliament to take a final decision. In a context where the EPRLF had announced that they are leaving the TNA, its MP, Sivasakthy Ananthan also did not attend the meeting.
TNA MPs, Sitharthan, Kodeeswaran, Viyalendran and Selvam Adaikalanathan did not participate in this meeting.
Among the MPs who participated in the meeting, S.Sritharan and Charles Nirmalanathan insisted that in the absence of written assurance on the solution for the problems , the TNA should keep neutral. They have pointed out that the UNP is not ready to give a written assurance and that oral assurances in the past were not fulfilled.
