While informing the President Maithripala Sirisena, that they will support the formation pre-Oct 26th Government, the TNA has said that, and the president should appoint a person nominated by the UNF and who could get a majority in the Parliament. It has been so insisted in a letter sent to the President with the signatures of all 14 MPs of the TNA.
It has been further said in this letter, that, they are writing this letter in context of the incidents that occurred in the Parliament on October 26th . The person who has been appointed as the Prime Minister is unable to prove his majority in the Parliament although one month has passed after his appointment.
At the same time the no-confidence motions brought on 14th and 16th had been passed. Further a vote by voice taken had been sent to you with the signatures of 122 MPs. The Reports of the Speaker relevant to this also had been sent to you.
The no confidence motions passed on 14th and 16 had created a conflict of whether there is a legally constituted government, cabinet or Prime Minister. Respectfully, we wish to say that, this situation could not be allowed to continue.
We will support the formation pre-Oct 26th Government, the TNA had said that, and the president should appoint a person nominated by the UNF and who could get a majority in the Parliament.
