Toxic injection to militants – not proved by Medical tests, announcement in NPC

It was alleged that former militants were administered with toxic injections while in rehabilitation. Medical examinations were held in this regard by the Ministry of Health. No evidence was found in these examination to show that the militants were injected with toxic drugs, the former Minister of Health, P.Sathiyalingam.

He made these announcement in the 105th sitting of the NPC, which was held yesterday, presided by the Leader of the House, C.V.K.Sivagnanam.

In the last sitting the Thvanathan accused that the NPC has done nothing the allegation of toxic injections. Former Minister submitted the above announcement in reply to Thavanathan’s accusation.

After the end of the war former militants were rehabilitated and released into the society in the Northern Province. It was alleged that toxic injections were administered to the militants. This was later mentioned in the NPC. A team of 10 specialists were appointed by my Ministry.

Notices were given to the militants through news papers and application forms were issued. Around 300 militants applied for the test.

No basic factors with regard to much talked of toxic injections were found in any type of Examinations, he said.
