TPPs – Nothing came out of negotiations with the President so far, CM expresses dissatisfaction

The Chief Minister of NPC, C.V.Wigneswaran expressed dissatisfaction  yesterday that nothing has come out speaking so far with the President.

Just actions should be taken relevant to the Tamil Political Prisoners (TPPs) who have been extra judicially  made convicts.

Representatives of the Public Organizations including the President of the National Organization for Releasing Political Prisoners , Rev.Fr. M Sakthivel, met the CM and had discussions  relevant to the TPPs. Commenting to the media after the meeting, the CM had said to the media as above.

I have been tired writing letters to the President. I have talked every relevant matter with him. He has not taken any action regarding this.

Minister Thalatha  Athukorala has said there are no political prisoners .  But our TPPs were arrested and  made convicts under an exclusive Act. The cases and arrests had been effected under the same PTA on their own Confessions. I have explained in one of judgements that one cannot be convicted on confession.

I wish to tell her that these people had been arrested under law  which is not our normal law. Hence they are Political prisoners he said.
