TPPs raise suspicion on TID activities to transfer out their case

“There are two witnesses in our case. One of them has gone abroad. In this context, how can the TID say that there is threat to witnesses? Four months ago, The TID had asked the witnesses to say that a threat exists for them. They are staging dramas to transfer our case to other courts.” The TPPs have said to their relatives who made visit to prison to meet them.

The TPPs who have been detained on charges of murdering members of the Armed Forces, have told the above. Rasathurai Thiruvarul alias Senkannan, Mathiyalahan Sulaksan and Ganesan Tharsan, whose case is proceeding in the Vavuniya, as from 2013, had been already in prison for more than 8 years.

Following an earlier attempt by TID to transfer this case out, the TPPs went into Fasting protest and the Vavuniya judge fixed  trial for this month end.

In this context, the TID had  announced that they have commenced an inquiry regarding threats to the witnesses of the case.

Rejecting the new charge the TPPs said that there are only two witnesses in their case and one of them had already migrated abroad. Other one is living in the hill country. We are aware that the TID had asked the witnesses to say that they being threatened. TID is playing new games to transfer our case to other courts in the south.

Meanwhile another former militant who has been in Boosa prison with the suspects and the said witnesses said that, the witness living in the Hill country has a badly impaired vision, and is unable to see beyond few feet in the evenings.
