Transport across Army border on Ponnalai-Point Pedro Road

Transport across Army border on Ponnalai-Point Pedro Road

Security forces have announced that transport in CTB busses only will be allowed from 5.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m on Ponnalai-Point Pedro Road.

Commenting on this the Jaffna District Secretary N.Vethanayagan said, Myliddy fisheries harbour has been released for use of fishermen. Most of the  people belonging this area are living in Point Pedro Pedro and they had travel 40 km and lot of money for two buses to come there and spend more than 2 hours in travelling to these areas,

To avoid this situation, several factions had requested the Army to allow travelling through 4 Km on this road lying in the Army controlled area.

As a result of these requests the Army had announced that CTB busses will be allowed to gothrough the area once in two hours. Accordingly we have prepared a time table and submitted to the Army and in case they give their consent, it is expected that the transport will be commenced next week. The permission for this will be received next week.
