Ultimate devolution of power should become a reality: says Bishop of Jaffna

The Prime Minister Ranil has said that the Joint Government has agreed to devolve the at the highest level. Without being an empty oral promise, these words should become a reality, said the Bishop of Jaffna, Rt.Rev. Justin Gnanapragasam. He said so when asked to comment about the Interim Report on the New Constitution.

Elaborating further he said, on last Thursday, the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe, while speaking after tabling the Interim Report on New Constitution, said that the joint Government had consented to ultimate power devolution.

Ultimate power devolution is welcome matter. We congratulate the endevour of the Government. Not only being an empty oral promise, it should be also properly documented and legally implemented,   if the government is to score the complete victory.
